Announcement on Progress of the Construction and the Provision of 5G Mobile Services in Cambodia
The Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) would like to inform the public that, from the official launch of 5G mobile services on January 1, 2026, to June 8, 2026, the three operators, namely Smart Axiata Co., Ltd., CamGSM Plc. and Viettel (Cambodia), have achieved notable progress as follows:
- Smart Axiata Co., Ltd. has deployed 748 5G base stations in key areas in Phnom Penh and other provincial capitals, including Kratie, Kandal, Kep, Kampot, Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Thom, Kampong Speu, Koh Kong, Takeo, Tboung Khmum, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Prey Veng, Preah Sihanouk, Mondul Kiri, Svay Rieng, Siemreap, Otdar Meanchey and Preah Vihear.
- CamGSM Plc. has deployed 742 5G base stations in key areas in Phnom Penh and other provincial capitals, including Kandal, Kampong Speu, Siemreap and Takeo.
- Viettel (Cambodia) has deployed 601 5G base stations in key areas in Phnom Penh and other provincial capitals, including Kratie, Kandal, Kampot, Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Thom, Kampong Speu, Koh Kong, Takeo, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Prey Veng, Pursat, Preah Sihanouk, Mondul Kiri, Ratanak Kiri, Svay Rieng, Stung Treng, Siemreap, Otdar Meanchey, Kep, Tboung Khmum, Preah Vihear, and Pailin.

Currently, all three operators are actively accelerating the rollout of 5G services, with a primary focus on high-speed internet services for both mobile users and home users (5G Home Broadband), as well as providing high-level entertainment experiences and technological solutions for enterprises and high-bandwidth connectivity for digital businesses, and continuing to expand 4G coverage. These developments will enhance Cambodia’s competitiveness in the era of the digital economy.
In parallel with this progress, the TRC will continue to encourage all operators to build additional 5G base stations to ensure broader nationwide coverage. The TRC will also continue to monitor and strengthen 4G service quality to ensure stable and highly efficient connectivity.
